St. Joseph Catholic
School
has come a
long way since its beginnings in 1961. . . |
 |
|
The school opened its doors that August to a
total of 100 students in four classrooms. The staff
of three sisters and one lay teacher taught grades
one through eight. Two grades were assigned to each
classroom until 1969 when the north wing was added.
With the dedication of the new St. Joseph Church
in 1981, the provisional church became a family
center and school cafeteria. In 1978, the school
inherited a small building on the east side of the
church parking lot. That building housed the
pre-kindergarten and kindergarten classes until
1990, when an addition enabled all classes to be
moved to the main building. |

The most recently completed addition, dedicated
in September 2001 has provided a science lab, a band
room and additional classrooms. Enrollment topped
500 students when the school opened its doors in
August 2002 for its forty-second year. |
